Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Mary C. Baumgarten earned a Bachelor of Science in 1985 from the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctor in 1989 from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. Before her appointment, she served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of New York (2007-2018), as a confidential law clerk for the Appellate Division, Fourth Department (2004-2007), as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny (2002-2004), as an assistant attorney general with the New York State Office of the Attorney General (1995-2002), and as an associate at Nixon Hargrave Devans & Doyle (1989-1995).
