Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Xiomara Diana Davis-Gumbs earned a Bachelor of Science in 1983 from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, and a Juris Doctor in 1992 from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. From 2008 to 2015 she held various roles in the Office of the Chief Counsel at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Dallas, including deputy chief counsel, and from 2002 to 2008 she was an assistant chief counsel with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Newark, New Jersey. Earlier she served as an asylum officer with the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (1997-2002) and in roles with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the New York City Department of Corrections. She is a member of the New York Bar.
