Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Derek Julius earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2003 from DePaul University, a Juris Doctor in 2006 from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, and a Master of Studies in international human rights law in 2021 from the University of Oxford. Before his appointment, he served with the U.S. Department of Justice, including as Foreign Section Chief at the Drug Enforcement Administration (2022-2024) and in attorney positions in the Office of Immigration Litigation (2008-2022), having entered federal service through the Attorney General's Honors Program.
