Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Robert Herrington earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1975 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a Juris Doctor in 1985 from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He was a criminal defense attorney in Plano, Texas (2005-2022) and an assistant federal public defender in Dallas (1998-2005). Earlier in his career he worked as a general practitioner in Dallas, a staff attorney at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Resolution Trust Corporation (1991-1995), a law clerk to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (1988-1991), and an immigration lawyer in private practice (1985-1988). He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
