Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Matthew Chan earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2008 from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Juris Doctor in 2011 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. From 2011 to 2021, he served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Chief Counsel, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Los Angeles, and from 2019 to 2021 he also served as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Central District of California. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the Illinois State Bar.
