Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Alicia Brooks earned a Bachelor of Science in 1988 and a Juris Doctor in 1991, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before her appointment, she served as a judicial hearing officer with the Clerk of Superior Court in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (2019-2021), as a district court judge in Charlotte (2014-2018), and earlier as a solo and private-practice attorney, assistant district attorney, and assistant public defender in Mecklenburg County.
