The Honorable Immigration Judge Warren R. Kaufman was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in July 2026. Judge Kaufman earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor in 1987 from Southern Methodist University School of Law. From 2022 to July 2026, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney with the Asset Recovery Division, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice, in San Antonio, Texas. From 2007 to 2022, he served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in San Antonio. From 2000 to 2006, he was in private practice in San Antonio. From 1997 to 1999, he was assistant general counsel for Micro Warehouse Ltd., in London. From 1994 to 1997, he was general counsel for Laboratoires Galderma SA, in Paris. From 1988 to 1994, he was an associate with Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados, in Mexico City and in Paris. Judge Kaufman is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
