Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Lucky Narain earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1999 from Christopher Newport University, a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management in 2004 from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Juris Doctor in 2009 from the Fordham Law School. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic (2001-2003), as a tax consultant at Deloitte LLP in New York (2009-2012), as a judge advocate for the U.S. Army (2012-2017), in private practice in San Francisco (2019-2022), as general counsel for the U.S. Army across the Middle East (2022-2025), and as an assistant district attorney in North Carolina (2025); he holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was appointed as a temporary immigration judge in February 2026. Judge Narain is a member of the New Jersey State Bar, the New York State Bar, and the North Carolina State Bar.
