Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge John A. Poore earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1999 from California State University, Chico, and a Juris Doctor in 2008 from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2000 to 2004, and from 2008 to 2024 he served as a senior deputy district attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar and was appointed as an immigration judge in March 2026.
