Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Javier E Balasquide earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from the University of Delaware and a Juris Doctor in 1991 from the Interamerican University School of Law, joining the U.S. Department of Justice in 1991 through the Attorney General's Honor Program. Before his appointment, he served as chief counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Arlington, Virginia (2003-2006), held roles including appellate counsel and district counsel with the former INS in Virginia (1999-2003), and served as an assistant district counsel with the INS in Miami (1991-1999).
