Background

The Honorable Immigration Judge Shawn McCarver was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in July 2026. Judge McCarver earned a Bachelor of Science in 1981 from Central Missouri State University and a Juris Doctor in 1984 from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. From September 1984 to December 2010, and, from January 2019 to July 2026, he was an attorney in Farmington, Missouri. From January 2011 to December 2018, he was an associate circuit judge of the 24th Circuit in Missouri. From May 1985 to December 2010, he was a municipal judge of the 24th Circuit in Missouri. Judge McCarver is a member of the Missouri Bar.
