Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Matthew J D'Angelo earned an undergraduate degree from Stonehill College in 1984 and a Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in Boston in 1988. From 1988 to 2003 he served as an assistant district counsel in charge of the detention division at the legacy immigration agency/Department of Homeland Security, and from 2000 to 2003 he also served as a special assistant U.S. attorney in Boston. He was first appointed an immigration judge at the Hartford Immigration Court in April 2003 and subsequently transferred to the Boston Immigration Court.
