Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Jorge L Pereira earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1990 from Florida International University and a Juris Doctor in 1995 from St. Thomas University School of Law. Before his appointment, he served as an assistant chief counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Miami (2008-2019), was an attorney and shareholder at Mesa & Pereira P.A. (1999-2008), an associate attorney at the Law Office of Tomas F. Gamba P.A. (1996-1999), and an assistant state attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office (1995-1996).
