Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge John F. Walsh earned a bachelor's degree in 1970 from the University of the Philippines, a master's degree in 1971 from Colorado State University, a bachelor's degree in 1973 from the University of Northern Colorado, an MBA in 1976 from Valdosta State College, and a Juris Doctor in 1980 from the University of San Diego School of Law. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for twenty years (1974-1994), including as a court-martial judge, and then worked as a hearing officer for the San Diego Superior Court (1995-1997). He was appointed an Immigration Judge in March 1997, serving in Detroit and later Los Angeles before Seattle. He is a member of the California Bar.
