Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Ashley N. Lassiter was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in July 2026. Judge Lassiter earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2013 from Duke University and a Juris Doctor in 2016 from the University of Richmond School of Law. From August 2019 until July 2026, she served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Atlanta. From December 2016 until July 2019, she served as a domestic violence attorney for the Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society in Christiansburg, Virginia. Judge Lassiter is a member of the North Carolina Bar, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Virginia State Bar.
