Background
The Honorable Immigration Judge Anthony Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1973 from Morehouse College, a Master of Arts in 1974 from the University of Arkansas, and a Juris Doctor in 1979 from the University of North Carolina. He began his legal career as a project director for the North Carolina Governor's Advocacy Council on Children and Youth from 1980 to 1981, entered private practice, and served as an assistant district attorney for the Seventh District of North Carolina from 1982 to 1988. He maintained a private practice handling personal injury and criminal defense matters in Rocky Mount, North Carolina from 1988 to 2009, then served as a district court judge for the Seventh District of North Carolina from 2009 to 2024. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the North Carolina Bar, and the New York State Bar, and began hearing cases as an immigration judge in November 2024.
