To qualify for relief under NACARA, you would have to have entered the United States before 1990. Around that time, there was intense political instability and violence in 🇬🇹 Guatemala, 🇸🇻 El Salvador, and 🇳🇮 Nicaragua.
Thousands of asylum-seekers came to the U.S. during this time, and in response the government created some special laws that could benefit people who entered before 1990 and took certain steps to apply for asylum.
