The Honorable Immigration Judge Marissa A. Hackert was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in August 2026. Judge Hackert earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2010 from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2013 from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. From July 2020 to August 2026, Judge Hackert served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in El Paso, Texas. From March 2018 to July 2020, Judge Hackert served as an assistant district attorney with the 34th Judicial District Attorney's Office in El Paso, Texas. From November 2013 to March 2018, Judge Hackert served as a debtor attorney in private practice at Tanzy & Borrego Law Offices in El Paso, Texas. Judge Hackert is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
