The Honorable Immigration Judge Julina Schaeffer was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in July 2026. Judge Schaeffer earned a Bachelor of Science in 2005 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Juris Doctor in 2017 from Seton Hall University School of Law. From March 2020 to July 2026, she served as an assistant chief counsel and associate regional counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in New York, New York. During that time, from October 2023 to March 2026, she served as a Homeland Security Investigations embedded attorney. From September 2018 to March 2020, she worked as an associate at Tompkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld and Barry LLC, in Roseland, New Jersey. From September 2017 to September 2018, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Walter Koprowski Jr., Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division, Essex County, New Jersey. Judge Schaeffer is a member of the New Jersey State Bar and the New York State Bar.
