The Honorable Immigration Judge Jorene Soto was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in August 2026. Judge Soto earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1997 from Stetson University, a Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in Latin American Studies, with honors, in 2000 from the University of Florida, and a Master of Laws, with honors, in 2007 from Georgetown University Law Center. From May 2020 to January 2026, Judge Soto served as an operational law attorney with the U.S. Air Force Reserve at the Pentagon. From May 2018 to May 2020, Judge Soto served as staff judge advocate for the 130th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard, in Charleston. Judge Soto previously served as an attorney advisor at the Board of Immigration Appeals, Executive Office for Immigration Review, Department of Justice, in Falls Church, Virginia, and, from September 2001 to September 2002, as a judicial law clerk at the immigration courts in Florence, Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Vegas. Judge Soto is a member of the West Virginia State Bar.
