The Honorable Immigration Judge Angelica M. Powers was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in August 2026. Judge Powers earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor in 2001 from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio. From January 2019 to August 2026, Judge Powers served as division chief of the Family Violence Division at the Bexar County District Attorney's Office in San Antonio. From September 2017 to December 2018, Judge Powers served as a regional attorney in the Litigation Division of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in San Antonio. From January 2017 to September 2017, Judge Powers served as an assistant city attorney in the Prosecution Division of the San Antonio City Attorney's Office. From January 2002 to January 2017, Judge Powers served as an assistant district attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office in San Antonio. Judge Powers is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
