The Daily Inter Lake details Agustin Ramon's challenge to Lincoln County's refusal to release him despite arrangements to post a $25,000 bond. The ACLU and Border Crossing sought his release, compensation for false imprisonment, and an end to the county's use of ICE detainers for current and future prisoners.
The requested relief made the suit larger than one man's custody. Shahid and the ACLU aimed to establish a statewide rule that local jails could not create new arrest authority simply because ICE sent a request.
