Shahid Haque explains that immigrants in a sparsely populated state can experience isolation, and describes the Montana Immigrant Justice Alliance's work to build connection and community.
The story reflects an important side of Shahid's work outside the courtroom. In a state without large immigrant communities in most places, MIJA offered people a way to find one another, respond to discrimination, and feel that they belonged in Montana.
