Vigil seeks justice for man: Billings event held for alleged victim of jail rape

· Great Falls Tribune · By Shane Castle · From the Border Crossing Law Firm media archive.

The Great Falls Tribune reports on a Billings prayer vigil for Audemio Orozco-Ramirez, who said he was raped while detained for deportation. More than 50 people gathered to support him, oppose housing civil immigration detainees with violent offenders, and press for an investigation before he could be removed. Shahid Haque described his client's treatment after reporting the assault and asked the public to stand with him.

The vigil shows Montana faith communities and human-rights groups rallying around one of Shahid's clients at a moment when legal advocacy alone could not guarantee that he would remain in the country long enough to pursue justice.
