Beartooth NBC - English only drivers test heard in committee

Beartooth NBC reports on a bill that would require Montana driver's-license testing to be conducted only in English. Shahid argues that road safety depends on understanding traffic rules and demonstrating driving ability, not on the language used for the written examination.

At the time, Montana already offered the written test in several languages without added cost. The proposal targeted lawful residents and risked leaving capable drivers unlicensed without solving an identified safety problem.
